Tennessee National Parks

Tennessee is a well known state of United Sates of America, located in the Southern region of United States of America. The list of travel and tourism spots in Tennessee is endless. Tennessee National Parks are the sought after destinations of tourists.

Some of the Tennessee National Parks are:

  • Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is located in the portions of Georgia and Tennessee. It covers an area of 9059 acres. This is the largest and first military park, which was established by Congress during the end of 19 th century. Chickamauga Battlefield has self-guiding auto tour facility historical tablets, horse trails, hiking trails and monuments. The visitor center has 26 minutes multimedia program which provides information on the famous Civil war Battle .

  • Shiloh National Military Park at 110 miles East of Memphis in Tennessee. It covers an area of 5065 acres. In the adjoined areas of this park, National cemetery is a tourist spot. Pre historic human mounds are also beside the park premises. This park is open daily from morning 8 to dusk. It remains closed during Christmas time. Peak tourist season in this area is in the month of April.

  • Natchez Trace Pathway, covering 51984 acres of which 423 miles are of parkway and is located in between Mississippi, Natchez, Nashville and Tennessee. This area is famous for fishing, boating, swimming and a number of other activities. It is open throughout the year except some days in winter.

  • Stones river National Battlefield is located 10 miles north of Americas in Georgia. It is around 709 acres. This park is open throughout the year except on Christmas time. Museums exhibits can be viewed at the visitor center. Ranger walks are the most favorite tourist attraction fro the month of May to October.
